Logging in to TWinternet with eHerkenning (eRecognition)

eHerkenning provides businesses with a secure way to manage their affairs with government or public sector organisations. As from 25 April 2023, you will need eHerkenning in order to log in to TWinternet.

You must apply for eHerkenning from a government-approved supplier.

eHerkenning is a login method for businesses similar to the personal DigiD login.

eHerkenning gives your business secure access to the SVB and other Dutch public sector organisations such as the UWV, the Chamber of Commerce (KvK) and the Tax and Customs Administration (Belastingdienst), using a 1-password login.

To log in to TWinternet, you will need ‘eHerkenning niveau EH3’. This ensures that you can access Twinternet safely online and your data is secure. For EH3, you log in via eHerkenning with:

  • username, and
  • password, and
  • extra verification. Verification methods can vary depending on which eHerkenning supplier you choose, for example an SMS code sent to your telephone, or a PIN code (through a token)

You must apply for eHerkenning from a government-approved supplier. ‘Approved suppliers’ are the suppliers that have met the conditions set by the national government (Rijksoverheid) for eHerkenning.

What to look for in a supplier:

Level of assurance

The assurance level for Twinternet needs to be at least Level 3 (niveau EH3). Applicants are obliged to provide proof of identity, so you should have your identity document ready when you speak to your supplier.

Authorising employees

If you want your employees to apply for A1 certificates for your business, you will need to contact your eHerkenning supplier and authorise each individual employee who will be logging in to our site via TWinternet with eHerkenning Level 3 (niveau EH3).

Apply for eHerkenning with your Dutch Chamber of Commerce registration number or branch number

You can apply for eHerkenning using your registration number with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK-nummer). If you wish to authorise others to act on your behalf, you will need your Chamber of Commerce branch number (KvK-vestigingsnummer). Please state your Chamber of Commerce branch number when you apply to us for a Twinternet account.

If you need A1 certificates for different branches of your business or organisation, you should apply for a Twinternet account for each branch office.

If your foundation or association does not have a Chamber of Commerce branch number (vestigingsnummer), you can use your RSIN identification number. NB: you must first fill in 3 zeros and then your 9-figure RSIN number, for example: 000123456789.

If you have any questions, please contact us.

You can obtain more information about eHerkenning from your supplier.

Chain legal authorisation for an intermediary

Someone else can manage your affairs for you through Twinternet providing they have supply chain authorisation. Find out how to authorise an intermediary to use eHerkenning on the website eherkenning.nl.

Costs (purchase and use)

You have to pay to use eHerkenning. The amount you pay will depend on your supplier. It is good to compare suppliers before making your choice. For more information, contact the supplier concerned.

You have eHerkenning access with your Chamber of Commerce registration number (KvK-nummer)

If you need certificates for employees at more than one branch office, you will need to apply to us for a Twinternet account for each branch, stating the Chamber of Commerce branch number (KvK-vestigingsnummer) for each account.

You already have eHerkenning access with a Chamber of Commerce branch number (KvK-vestigingsnummer)
