What is the SVB Client Council?
The SVB Client Council is an official independent advisory body which is part of the SVB. It deliberates and collaborates with, and advises, the SVB‘s Board of Directors at the Board’s request and on its own initiative.
In the performance of its duties, the SVB Client Council consults case histories, policy rule reviews, and reports.
The SVB Client Council makes written and oral recommendations on implementation policy and how to improve it.
The members of the SVB Client Council possess a wide range of knowledge and experience. Based on this knowledge and experience, working groups are established to deal with a variety of issues. In various formations, these groups help prepare the SVB Client Council’s recommendations to the SVB’s Board of Directors. There are working groups for the Dutch AOW old-age pension, child benefit and personal budget (PGB) schemes.
The SVB Client Council convenes with the SVB’s Board of Directors at least 4 times a year, and also meets separately at least 8 times a year, amongst other things to prepare for the meeting with the Board of Directors.
The SVB Client Council performs its duties in accordance with the following fundamental principles:
- efficiency
- purposefulness
- client-centricity
- clarity
The SVB Client Council is informed about and involved in the aspects of implementation that directly affect the services of the SVB and the participation of its clients.
The SVB Client Council has 11 members: an independent chairperson, 5 representatives of an interest group, and 5 independent clients of the SVB.
Experts and managers from the SVB organisation regularly participate in meetings with the Board of Directors and the Board’s own meetings. In addition, the members of the SVB Client Council can consult content managers / experts in the SVB organisation.
The SVB Client Council is supported by an Official Secretary and a Policy Adviser for Strategy & External Relations, both from the SVB.
The SVB Client Council is a member of the LCR and plays an active role in it. The LCR operates based on a legal framework: the Act on Implementation Structure for Work and Income (SUWI).
