If someone dies

After the death of a person who was receiving an extraordinary pension, a benefit or an allowance or reimbursement for costs, we will stop making the payments. If there is a surviving partner, we will check whether the partner qualifies for financial assistance.

If your partner has died

If you receive an extraordinary pension or a benefit and your partner dies, we will reassess your pension or benefit.

We will start paying the new amount as from the first day of the month after the month in which your partner died. Until the new amount is decided, the old amount will continue to be paid provisionally. More information about this can be found in our leaflet.

Where should I report the death?

If the deceased lived in the Netherlands, you should report the death to the municipality (gemeente). The gemeente will then inform us.

If the deceased lived outside the Netherlands, you should report the death to us immediately. You can use the ‘Reporting changes’ form for this.
