AOW pension rates depending on living situation

The amount of AOW pension you can get depends on your living situation, that is, whether you live on your own or share a house with another adult.

The AOW pension rates are based on a percentage of the Dutch net minimum wage. The amount you can get depends on your living situation. Click below to read more about the percentage rates for each living situation.

If you qualify for an AIO supplement, the amount you can get also depends on your living situation. But the rules here are different from the rules for AOW pension.

Percentages depending on living situation

  • If you live on your own: you will get up to 70% of the net minimum wage
  • If you share a house with another adult who has not started receiving an AOW pension: you will get up to 50% of the net minimum wage
  • If you share a house with another adult who also gets an AOW pension: you will each get up to 50% of the net minimum wage. Together, you can get up to 100% of the net minimum wage
