Holiday allowance
Net payment of holiday allowance in May
The AOW holiday allowance is paid as a net amount once a year in May. How much a person can get varies depending on their personal situation, for example whether they share a household with another adult or live alone. It also depends on whether or not they get a full AOW pension .
If you are already receiving a Dutch AOW old-age pension, you will be able to see your net holiday allowance as from May of each year under ‘Payments’ in My SVB.
Holiday allowance is less than 8% of the gross AOW pension.
AOW holiday allowance is not a percentage of the gross AOW pension; it is a fixed monthly amount, based on the Dutch minimum wage. As the minimum wage is adjusted every year in January and July, AOW holiday allowance is also adjusted twice a year in January and July.
