Social insurance
If you have been posted to work in another country by your employer, it is important for you to know which country’s social insurance schemes will apply to you. This can affect how much AOW pension you build up, and your rights to child benefit or insurance against incapacity for work or unemployment.
You are an employer
If you are an employer, it is important to know in which country you need to pay social insurance contributions for your employees.
Temporarily working outside the Netherlands
We determine the country where a person is insured by looking at whether they are working outside the Netherlands temporarily or for an indeterminate period of time.
Under Dutch law, a posting can last up to 24 months. This period can be extended to 5 years, but only if this is agreed with the country where you are going to work.
