Family benefits from both the Netherlands and another country

If you or your partner are entitled to family benefits from the Netherlands as well as from another country, you cannot get the full amount from both countries. There are international agreements about what each country should pay.

The Netherlands will sometimes pay a supplement

If the payment of family benefits from the other country has priority over the Dutch family benefits, but the total amount you can get from the other country is lower, the Netherlands will pay the difference as a supplement. This way, the total amount you will receive from both countries will be equal to the full amount of Dutch family benefits.

If we pay a supplement, this will include child budget and childcare benefit. You will receive the total amount in 1 payment from the SVB after the end of the quarter. This means that you will not receive any child budget or childcare benefit from Dienst Toeslagen.

If you live or work in Belgium or Germany, more information about family benefits is available online at grensinfopunt.nl.
