Changes that can affect your AIO supplement

Your AIO supplement tops up your income to the level of the guaranteed minimum income . If your income changes, your AIO supplement might also change.

It is important that you report any changes in your income to us.

If your or your partner’s income or assets go up or down, you must report this to us so that we can adjust the amount of your AIO supplement.

If you get married or start sharing a house with 1 or more people, or if you get divorced or start living on your own, you should report this to us.

Other situations that can affect the amount of your AIO supplement:

  • You or your partner goes into a nursing home
  • Your partner is going to live outside the Netherlands
  • Someone starts living in the same house as you
  • Someone stops living at your house

If your partner dies, many things will change. We will also adjust your AIO supplement. If this results in you not having enough money to live on, you can contact your municipality (gemeente) to see whether you qualify for income support in addition to your AIO supplement.
