AOW pension age to be raised to 67 years and 3 months in 2028
The Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment (SZW) has announced that the AOW pension age will be raised to 67 years and 3 months in 2028. This new pension age applies to people born between 1 January 1961 and 30 September 1961.
The AOW pension age is determined on the basis of life expectancy estimates by Statistics Netherlands (CBS). The estimates for 2028 were announced by CBS on 9 November 2022.
Your AOW pension age
If you were born after 30 September 1961, your exact AOW pension age is not yet known. However, it will be at least 67 years and 3 months. You will know about 5 years in advance when your AOW pension will start. If you were born before 1 January 1961, your AOW pension age will stay the same.
