New agreements for cross-border telework

In an earlier news item, we informed you about the transitional period in which working from home (‘teleworking’) across the border would not affect your social insurance. This transitional period expires on 30 June 2023. As from 1 July 2023, the ordinary rules of European Regulation 883/2004 will apply again.

A special Framework Agreement has been drawn up for employees who perform cross-border telework. The agreement is likely to be signed by several Member States, including the Netherlands. Employees who telework and meet the conditions of the agreement will be allowed to telework from their country of residence for up to 50% of their total working hours without becoming insured in their country of residence.
