Deductions from your remigration benefit
If you receive a remigration benefit, there are two possibilities:
- If you receive another Dutch pension or benefit as well as your remigration benefit, e.g. a WAO or WIA incapacity benefit, an AOW old age pension or an Anw survivor benefit, the National Health Care Institute (Zorginstituut Nederland) will determine whether you can remain covered under Dutch health insurance (Zvw) in your new country of residence.
- If you do not receive another Dutch pension or benefit in addition to the remigration benefit, you will receive a health insurance allowance which you can use to take out health insurance in your new country of residence. The amount of the allowance depends on the country you are moving to. The allowance will be paid together with your remigration benefit.
Health insurance contributions
If you are covered by Dutch health insurance in your new country of residence, we will deduct health insurance contributions (Zvw contributions) from your remigration benefit at the request of the National Health Care Institute (Zorginstituut Nederland). The amount deducted depends on the country you are moving to, taking into account the health care rates in that country.
In certain countries, you cannot continue to be covered by Dutch health insurance. In that case, you will receive a health insurance allowance on top of your remigration benefit.
Health care allowance
If you continue to be insured under Dutch health insurance (Zvw), you may qualify for a health care allowance from the Dutch Tax Administration. You can find more information about the health care allowance, and an application form, on the Tax Administration website.
