How is your bridging benefit calculated?

When calculating your bridging benefit, we look at the difference between your early retirement benefit (VUT) or similar benefit and your old age pension.

An example (the amounts shown are monthly amounts)

Your VUT early retirement benefit or similar benefit was € 2,000.00. When you turn 65, you receive an old age pension of € 500.00. Your income thus drops by a maximum of € 1,500.00. The bridging benefit will top up your old age pension to the maximum amount of the bridging benefit. If you live on your own, the maximum amount is € 1203.35 and if you have a partner, the maximum amount is € 772.45. Other income will be deducted from the maximum amount.

Situation 1: you live alone

Drop in income€ 1,500.00
Maximum bridging benefit € 1203.35
Your income€ 500.00
Your bridging benefit€ 703.35

Situation 2: you live with a partner

Drop in income€ 1,500.00
Maximum bridging benefit€ 772.45
Your income€ 500.00
Your bridging benefit€ 272.45
