When will you receive your child benefit?
Our child benefit payments will be remitted to all the banks on the following dates:
- 2 January 2019: child benefit for the 4th quarter of 2018
- 1 April 2019: child benefit for the 1st quarter of 2019
- 1 July 2019: child benefit for the 2nd quarter of 2019
- 1 October 2019: child benefit for the 3rd quarter of 2019
The payment will be credited to your account the same day
Your bank will pay the money into your account the same day. At precisely what time the payment is made differs from bank to bank.
When will you receive child benefit for the first time?
Your first quarterly child benefit payment depends on your child's date of birth. This is because we look at whether your child was already born on the first day of the quarter.
Your child was born on 12 April, that is, in the 2nd quarter. But your child was not yet born on the 1st day of the 2nd quarter. Your first child benefit payment will therefore be for the 3rd quarter. This means that you will receive the payment in your account after the end of the 3rd quarter. A list of payment dates is shown above.
Your child was born on 1 April, that is, the first day of the 2nd quarter. That means your first child benefit payment will be for the 2nd quarter, and you will receive the money after the end of the 2nd quarter. A list of payment dates is shown above.
As from which quarter will you receive the higher child benefit amount?
If your child benefit is increased because your child has turned 6 or 12, we look at the first day of the quarter to determine when the higher amount will be paid. If you have a child aged 6 or 12 on the first day of a quarter, you will receive the higher amount for that quarter. The payment will be made after the end of the quarter.
