How to apply for an A1/certificate of coverage

Submitting an application using your DigiD code

The quickest and safest way to apply for an A1/certificate of coverage is via My SVB using your DigiD code.

Apart from your DigiD code, you will also need details of your company, such as:

  • the Chamber of Commerce number
  • your Chamber of Commerce branch number (vestigingsnummer)

If you do not have a DigiD code

A DigiD code allows you to manage your government-related affairs online. That includes your affairs with the SVB.

Applying using a paper form

You can also apply for an A1/certificate of coverage by downloading the application form, which you will find at the bottom of the page, and sending it to us by post. Please bear in mind that the online application process is quicker.

If you need an A1/certificate of coverage urgently

If you do not yet have an A1/certificate of coverage and are therefore not yet allowed to start working, the inspectorates in most countries will accept a copy of the application for an A1/certificate of coverage.

If you are not permitted to start working without an A1/certificate of coverage, or if a client will not pay you without an A1/certificate of coverage, contact us by telephone. We will then see if we can process your application with priority.
