Anw survivor benefit
If your former spouse has died
If you are divorced and your former spouse (or registered partner) has passed away, you may be entitled to an Anw survivor benefit if:
- you met the conditions for receiving the benefit on the date of divorce as well as on the date on which your former partner passed away, and
- your former spouse was obliged to pay maintenance to you when he or she passed away. It makes no difference whether you actually received the maintenance.
Same amounts of Anw benefit and maintenance
The amount of your Anw survivor benefit will be the same as the amount of the maintenance your former spouse was obliged to pay to you, unless the maintenance is more than the maximum survivor benefit, in which case you will get the maximum survivor benefit. If you have other income as well, this wil be deducted from your survivor benefit.
