You reach your AOW pension age before you move to the Netherlands
If you come to the Netherlands for the first time after reaching your AOW pension age, you will not have built up any AOW pension rights, and you will normally not be entitled to an AOW old age pension. However, you may be able to get an AIO supplement if you have little or no income.
In some cases, AOW pension will be payable
You can get a partial AOW pension if you were born before 1 January 1942 and you:
- lived in the Netherlands or on Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, Bonaire, Sint Eustatius or Saba for 6 years after your 59th birthday, and
- currently live in the Netherlands, and
have Dutch nationality or the nationality of an EU/EEA country or a country with which the Netherlands has a social security agreement.
