Payment agreements with your municipality
If you are under the AOW pension age and the municipality pays some of your bills for you, e.g. gas, water or electricity, this may change when you reach the AOW pension age.
When you reach the AOW pension age, you will start to receive an AOW pension and possibly also a pension from a former employer. Whether your municipality will continue to help you pay your bills depends on the total amount you receive in AOW and other pension.
There are 2 possibilities:
- Your income (AOW pension + other pension) is higher than the minimum income. In that case, you will not receive income support, and the payment agreements with your municipal authorities will cease to apply. You will then have to start paying the bills yourself.
- Your income stays below the minimum income. In that case, you will get an AIO supplement, and the SVB will take over the payment agreements with your municipal authorities. This means that we will pay the bills which your municipality pays for you now.
