How to log in to My SVB is going to change

As from 10 May 2023, you will no longer be able to log in to My SVB using only your DigiD username and password. Instead, you will only be able to log in using:

  • your DigiD username and password with additional SMS verification
  • the DigiD app
  • a valid EU Login

The reason for the new login method

People increasingly arrange their affairs online, including their affairs with the government. This often involves private information. With the addition of an extra layer of security to the login procedure, your personal data will be even better protected.

What to do if you currently log in using only your username and password

You will need to arrange for SMS verification with your DigiD or download the DigiD app. That way, you will continue to be able to use My SVB after 10 May 2023.

Select the situation that applies to you and read what you need to do.

Log in to My DigiD:

  • If you have already activated SMS verification, you do not need to do anything. You will be able to log in to My SVB after 10 May 2023. You could also activate the DigiD app.
  • If you have not yet activated SMS verification, select this option and fill in your telephone number. You can also opt to receive spoken SMS messages. It does not matter what type of telephone you have. This will also allow you to activate the DigiD app.

If you need more help

Not everyone is digitally savvy. This is why DigiD provides helpful videos and step-by-step explanations. Perhaps there is someone who can help you set up the new login method. For example, by using DigiD Authorisation. Your local library may have a Digital Government Information Desk. Their staff will be happy to help you.

Log in to My DigiD:

  • If you have already activated SMS verification, you do not need to do anything. You will be able to log in to My SVB after 10 May 2023. You could also activate the DigiD app.
  • If you have not yet activated SMS verification, you will have to apply for a new DigiD with SMS verification, as SMS verification is not possible with your current DigiD. We would advise you to apply for a new DigiD as soon as possible, to make sure that you can continue to log in to My SVB after 10 May 2023. This will also allow you to activate the DigiD app.

How to apply for a new DigiD

Select the situation that applies to you:

  • You either receive an AOW pension or you will soon start receiving an AOW pension. Apply to us for a new DigiD and add SMS verification. You will then be able to continue to use My SVB. It will also allow you to activate the DigiD app.
  • You do not yet receive an AOW pension. If you are a national of the European Economic Area (EEA), you can apply for a DigiD with SMS verification on the DigiD website. You will then be able to continue to use My SVB. It will also allow you to activate the DigiD app.
  • You do not yet receive an AOW pension. If you are not a national of the European Economic Area (EEA), you will not be able to log in to My SVB after 10 May 2023, and you will not be able to apply for a new DigiD. Of course, it will still be possible to contact us in other ways.
