When can you get an Anw survivor benefit or an orphan’s benefit?

If your partner or ex-partner has died, you can qualify for an Anw survivor benefit providing you meet the conditions under the Anw scheme.

If an orphan meets the conditions under the Anw scheme, they can get an orphan’s benefit as long as they continue to meet the necessary conditions.

Select the situation that applies to you

  1. Your partner has passed away

You can get an Anw survivor benefit if you have not yet reached your AOW pension age and you meet all the necessary conditions.

  2. Your ex-partner has passed away

You may qualify for an Anw survivor benefit providing you meet the necessary extra conditions.

  3. Both parents have passed away

If a child has lost both parents, which includes step-parents, the child can qualify for an orphan’s benefit.
