If you do not wish to be covered by Dutch national insurance

If you do not wish to be insured under the Anw benefit scheme, for example because of your convictions or beliefs, read what you can do.

You do not want to be covered by any form of insurance because of your convictions or beliefs

If you do not wish to be covered by any form of insurance because of your convictions or beliefs, you can request a statement (an exemption) to show that you are not insured in the Netherlands.

There is another reason you do not wish to be insured

If you receive wages or a benefit, you will usually pay national insurance contributions automatically.

If you do not want to be insured, you may be able to apply for an exemption. If you are granted an exemption, you will no longer have to pay contributions. However, you will no longer be insured under the national insurance schemes/the child benefit scheme either.
