AIO supplement
What we mean by 'living with a partner'
The SVB will consider you to be living with a partner if you:
- live in the same house with someone who is 18 or older, and you
- share the household costs or
- look after each other
We refer to the person you share a house with as your 'partner'. This could be your husband, wife or friend, or a brother, sister, or grandchild. If you live with a partner, as defined above, you will only get an AIO supplement if your and your partner's joint income is less than € 1,342.07 net per month. In addition, your joint capital may not be more than € 11,370.
AIO supplement at the rate for a single person
If you live in the same house as your tenant, or your landlord or landlady, you can still get an AIO supplement at the rate for a single person.
If you live with a grandchild under 18
If you live with a grandchild under 18 and you get child benefit for him or her, you will get an AIO supplement at the rate for a single parent if your income is less than € 1,227.02 net per month.
If you live with a child who is 18 or over
If you share a house with one or more children of your own or stepchildren aged between 18 and 65, you cannot get an AIO supplement. However, if your joint income is less than € 1,342.07 net per month, you may qualify for income support from your municipal authorities.
Exception
You can still get an AIO supplement from the SVB if your child is studying and receives a student grant.
If you live with your child or parent aged 65 or over
If you live with your parent or child and you are both 65 or over, you will get an AIO supplement if your joint income is less than € 1,342.07 net per month.
