AIO supplement
If you first came to the Netherlands after the age of 65
If you come to the Netherlands for the first time after your 65th birthday, you will not have been able to build up any AOW pension rights, and you will normally not be entitled to an AOW old age pension. However, you may be able to get AIO supplement (income support) if you have little or no income.
In some cases, AOW pension will be payable
You can get a partial AOW pension if you were born before 1 January 1942 and you:
- have lived in the Netherlands, Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, Saba
for at least six years after your 59th birthday, - currently live in the Netherlands, and
have Dutch nationality, or the nationality of an EU/EEA country or of a country with which the Netherlands has a social security agreement.
