AIO supplement
Income and capital
You can get an AIO supplement if your income is below the minimum income level. 'Income' includes:
- AOW;
- KOB top-up;
- salary from an employer;
- earnings from self-employment, or
- a benefit.
If you live with a spouse or partner, their income will also be taken into account.
Your personal capital
By capital, we mean the value of everything you own, e.g. savings, shares, house, car, caravan, holiday bungalow, jewellery and antiques.
Ordinary consumer goods such as furniture, a washing machine, a fridge or a television do not count towards the value of your capital. If you have debts, you can deduct them from the value of your capital.
Your own house, houseboat or caravan
The value of your house, houseboat or caravan counts as capital. You can calculate this part of your capital by deducting your outstanding mortgage debt from the value of your house.
If the remaining amount is less than € 48,000, you can get an AIO supplement.
If it is more than € 48,000, you may still be able to get an AIO supplement. In that case, you should ask us for more information.
