AIO supplement
Payment agreements with your municipality
If you are under 65 and you receive a national assistance benefit (bijstand), your municipal authorities may pay certain bills for you (for instance, your gas, water and electricity bills). This could change when you turn 65.
When you turn 65, you will get an AOW pension and, in some cases, a pension from your employer. What will happen with the payments your municipality makes for you depends on how much AOW pension and other pension you get.
There are 2 possibilities:
- Your income (AOW pension and other pension) is more than the minimum income standard. In that case, your income support will stop, and the payment agreements with your municipal authorities will cease to apply. This means that you will have to start paying your bills yourself.
- Your income stays below the minimum income standard. In that case, you will get income support for people over 65 (called AIO supplement), and the SVB will take over the payment agreements with your municipal authorities. This means that we will pay the bills which your municipality pays for you now.
