How to apply for an AIO supplement
A few months before your 65th birthday, you can submit your claim for an AOW pension. We will then calculate the amount you are entitled to. If your income is likely to be under a certain minimum level after you turn 65, we will send you a letter explaining how you can check whether you qualify for an AIO supplement. If so, we will send you a claim form.
Around six months before you turn 65, we will send you a letter about claiming an AOW pension. You do not have to do anything about claiming an AIO supplement; we will contact you about this after you have claimed an AOW pension.
Still under 65
If you are under 65, you will not be able to get an AIO supplement from the SVB. You can apply to your municipality (gemeente) for income support.
