AIO supplement - How to apply for an AIO supplement

A few months before you reach the AOW pension age, you can submit your claim for an AOW pension. We will then calculate the amount you are entitled to. If your income is likely to be under a certain minimum level after you reach the AOW pension age, we will send you a letter explaining how you can check whether you qualify for an AIO supplement. If so, we will send you a claim form.

Around six months before your reach the AOW pension age, we will send you a letter about claiming your AOW pension. You do not have to do anything about the AIO supplement. We will contact you about the supplement after you claim your AOW pension.

If you are under the AOW pension age

If you are still under the AOW pension age, you cannot get an AIO supplement from the SVB. However, you can apply to your municipal authorities for assistance.
