Wubo - If someone has died

Wubo

If someone has died

If someone who was receiving payments from us dies, we will stop the payments.

If the person who died lived in the Netherlands, you must inform the municipal authorities of the death. They will then inform us. In all other cases, you must report the death directly to us.

Supplementary allowance

The supplementary allowance will stop with effect from the first day of the month after the month in which the deceased passed away.

The payments/benefit

If the deceased was single, the payments will stop with effect from the first day of the month after the month in which he or she died.

If the deceased leaves a partner, the payments will stop with effect from the first day of the third month after the deceased passed away.

As the beneficiary's surviving partner, you can apply for a survivor benefit, unless only a monthly tax-free increment was paid. If you are already known to us as the beneficiary's partner, we will contact you. If you qualify for a survivor benefit, it will be paid as from the first day of the third month after the month in which the deceased passed away.

Reimbursements or allowances for costs

Reimbursements or allowances for costs will generally stop with effect from the first day of the month after the month in which the deceased passes away. Certain allowances will temporarily continue to be paid to the surviving partner. You can find more information about this in the leaflet about allowances under the Wuv and Wubo schemes.

If the partner of a civilian war victim dies

If the partner of a civilian war victim dies, the benefit will be reassessed. If only a monthly tax-free increment is paid, the amount paid will stay the same. The amount of reimbursements or allowances for costs will not change either.
