Voluntary insurance
How much does voluntary insurance cost?
If you take out voluntary insurance, you will have to pay an annual contribution, which is a percentage of your income. Your total income will be taken into account, i.e. your income from the Netherlands as well as any income you receive from outside the Netherlands. There is a minimum and a maximum contribution.
Every year, the contribution percentage and the minimum and maximum contributions are adjusted by the government. For 2012, the AOW contribution has been set at 17.9% of your income, and the Anw contribution at 1.1% of your income.
| contribution | minimum | maximum |
|---|---|---|
| AOW contribution | € 496.00 | € 4,961.00 |
| Anw contribution | € 30.00 | € 304.00 |

- First, work out your total income. Some expenses are deductible.
- Then, take 17.9% of this amount.
- Subtract the general tax credit of € 1,100.
