Remigration
Some consequences of remigration
If you leave the Netherlands to remigrate, and you get a remigration benefit, you should bear the following in mind:
- you will have to give up your Dutch nationality
- if you decide after a while to return to the Netherlands, you will normally have to pay the remigration grant back
- you will cease to be covered under the Dutch national insurance schemes, e.g. for AOW old age pension, Anw survivor benefits, and AWBZ exceptional medical expenses.
