Remigration
Health insurance contributions
Health insurance contributions
If the Netherlands pays for the medical care you receive in your country of residence, we will deduct health insurance contributions (Zvw contributions) from your remigration benefit. The amount that will be deducted depends on the country you are moving to. If you claim health care expenses in the Netherlands, we have to deduct the Zvw contribution for non-residents from your remigration benefit on behalf of the Dutch Health Care Insurance Board (College voor Zorgverzekeringen, CVZ).
Health insurance
If you receive a remigration benefit, there are two possibilities:
- if you receive another Dutch pension or benefit as well as your remigration benefit, e.g. a WAO or WIA incapacity benefit, an AOW old age pension or an Anw survivor benefit, you will continue to be covered under Dutch health insurance in your new country of residence.
- In all other cases, you will receive a health insurance allowance.
If you continue to be covered under Dutch health insurance (Zvw) in your country of residence, we will deduct Zvw health insurance contributions from your remigration benefit. The amount deducted depends on the country you are moving to and the health care rates in that country.
You can use the health insurance allowance to take out health insurance in your new country of residence. The amount of the allowance depends on the country you are moving to. The allowance will be paid together with your remigration benefit.
Health care allowance
If you continue to be insured under Dutch health insurance (Zvw) in your country of residence, you may qualify for a health care allowance from the Dutch Tax Administration. You can find more information about the health care allowance, and an application form, on the following website:
