Fines and administrative sanctions
A change in your situation may affect your entitlement to a pension or benefit. The amount may need to be increased or reduced. We want to make sure that you always get the right amount. For this reason, you are obliged to report any changes to us within 4 weeks of the change occurring (6 weeks if you live outside the Netherlands). If you do not report a change on time, the SVB may fine you or impose an administrative sanction.
Fines
You will be fined if:
- you do not report a change on time
- you provide us with incorrect or incomplete information
The amount of the fine will be the same as the amount you were overpaid. You will therefore have to repay the amount that was overpaid, and pay the same amount again as a fine.If you provide information that is late, incorrect or incomplete for a second time, the fine will be increased to 150% of the amount you were overpaid.
Administrative sanction
If you do not respond to our requests for information on time, we will impose an administrative sanction involving a one-off deduction of at least € 25 from your pension or benefit. If you again do not respond to our requests for information on time, the amount will be increased.If it is the first time you were late in reporting a change
If you did not receive too much pension or benefit even though you were late in reporting the change, you will be given a warning. NB: if you are again late in reporting a change within 2 years, you will receive a fine or an administrative sanction.
