Hospitalization insurance
When you are reimbursed for medical expenses in Belgium, you normally pay a personal contribution of about 20% per invoice. If you take out hospitalization insurance, your contribution will be lower in the event that you are admitted to hospital. You can take out the insurance with your health insurance fund or another insurer. You can usually take out this insurance until you are 60. If you work in Belgium, you may already have hospitalization insurance through your employer. We would advise you to inquire about this before taking out the insurance yourself.
