If you become unemployed in the Netherlands

You will get a Belgian unemployment benefit

If you live in Belgium, are employed in the Netherlands, and you become unemployed, you will get a Belgian unemployment benefit. For the beneft, you must apply to your local Auxiliary Fund for Payment of Unemployment Benefits (Hulpkas voor Werkloosheidsuitkeringen), or to your trade union if you are a member. You will need form U1, which you can obtain from the Dutch Institute for Employee Benefit Schemes. You must also register with the Flemish Public Employment and Vocational Training Service (Vlaamse Dienst voor Arbeidsbemiddeling).

Dutch unemployment benefit

Since 1 May 2010, it has no longer been possible to obtain an unemployment benefit from your last country of employment via the Miethe ruling. However, if you already receive such a benefit, you will continue to receive it as long as you meet the requirements.
