Maternity grant
If you live or work in Belgium, you can get a maternity grant during your pregnancy. This is a one-off payment for which you can apply to your employer's child benefit fund around the 6th month of your pregnancy. The child benefit fund will pay the maternity grant around two months before the expected birth date.
If you live in Belgium and work in the Netherlands, you may be entitled to a Belgian maternity grant even if you are not entitled to Belgian child benefit.
If you are employed in Belgium or the Netherlands, you should apply to the National Office for Child Benefit for Employees (RKW) for the maternity grant.
If you are self-employed in Belgium, you should apply to the National Institute for the Social Security of the Self-Employed (RSVZ). If you are self-employed in the Netherlands, you will not be entitled to a maternity grant.
