AOW pension - You live with your child

AOW pension

You live with your child

The SVB does not consider you to be living with someone if you only live with a child or children of yours. In that case, you will get an AOW pension at the rate for a single person.

If you live in one house with a child or children under 18

If your household consists of only yourself and a child or children under 18, you may qualify for an AOW pension based on 90% of the net minimum wage. This is more than the AOW pension received by someone who lives alone, without a partner and without children under 18. You can get this higher amount if you also get child benefit for the child or children.

They do not have to be your own children. If you have adopted or fostered a child, and you also get child benefit for him or her, you will also get the higher rate of AOW pension.

If you live in one house with a child or children of 18 or older

If your household consists of only yourself and a child or children of 18 or older, you will get an AOW pension at the rate for a single person, which is based on 70% of the net minimum wage.
