Changes you need to report

If you receive an Anw benefit and there is a change in your situation, you must report this to us within 4 weeks. That way, you will always receive the correct amount. If you live outside the Netherlands, you must report changes within 6 weeks.

You can report changes via My SVB on our website, by post or by telephone.

Below is a list of all the changes you have to report.

You receive an Anw survivor benefit or dependent child allowance:

Your income apart from your Anw benefit
  • Your other income goes up or down.
  • You have a new source of income.
  • You no longer have other income.
  • You start receiving a non-Dutch survivor benefit or dependent child allowance.
A change in your domestic situation or family circumstances
  • A child leaves home.
  • A child moves in with you.
  • A child gets married or starts living with a partner.
  • A change in the parental authority over a child.
  • A change in the foster care of a child.
  • A child is adopted.
  • You get married or enter into a registered partnership.
  • You start living with a partner.
  • Someone moves in with you.
  • You start renting out a room.
  • You are moving to another country.
Incapacity for work
  • You have been declared fit for work.
  • You are incapacitated for work and are going to start working again.
  • Your rate of incapacity for work has been reassessed at less than 45%.
Other changes
  • You or a child gets a different nationality.
  • You or a child is held in a prison or remand centre for more than a month.
  • You live in the Netherlands and you or a child moves to another country.
If you live outside the Netherlands
  • You are moving to another country.
  • A child has died.

If you live in the Netherlands, you do not have to report the following changes to us:

  • A change of address within the Netherlands involving the whole family.
  • If a member of your family dies.

This information will be provided to us by your municipal authorities (gemeente). NB: you must inform the municipality promptly if you move house or if there is a death in your family.

In the case of an orphan's benefit:

General

  • The orphan is adopted.
  • The orphan is assigned a new representative (guardian).
  • The orphan is legitimised or acknowledged by a man.
  • The court has established the identity of the orphan’s father.
  • The orphan gets a benefit from a country other than the Netherlands.
  • There is a change in the non-Dutch benefit.
  • The orphan gets a different nationality.
  • The orphan’s representative moves house.
The orphan lives outside the Netherlands and:
  • moves to another country;
  • has died.
The orphan is 16 or older and:
  • spends less than 213 hours per quarter on study or education or practical training;
  • is no longer 45% or more incapacitated for work;
  • gets married or enters into a registered partnership.
  • starts living with a partner;
  • is no longer taking care of another orphan;
  • no longer spends the majority of his or her time taking care of the household;
  • is held in a prison or remand centre for more than a month.

If the orphan lives in the Netherlands, you do not have to report the following changes to us:

  • if the orphan moves house within the Netherlands;
  • if the orphan has died.

This information will be provided to us by the municipal authority (gemeente). NB: you must inform the municipality in time if the orphan moves house or has died.
