Orphans born after 1 October 1993
An orphan under 21 can get an orphan's benefit if the following situations apply:
Orphans aged 16 and 17 can qualify for an orphan's benefit if they:
- attend full-time education aimed at obtaining a basic qualification (startkwalificatie), or
- are exempt from obtaining a basic qualification, or
- continue to attend full-time education after obtaining a basic qualification
Orphans aged 18 to 21 can get an orphan's benefit if they:
- attend full-time education
Orphans aged 16 to 21 who run a household can qualify for an orphan's benefit if they:
- are unmarried, do not live with a partner, and spend more than half their time running the household, and
- the household contains another child who receives an orphan's benefit, e.g. a brother or sister, and
- the orphan who runs the household has obtained a basic qualification or is exempt from obtaining a basic qualification
