Anw survivor benefit - Your former partner has died

Anw survivor benefit

Your former partner has died

If you are divorced from your former spouse (or have ended a registered partnership agreement) and your former partner has passed away, you can get an Anw survivor benefit if:
  • you met the conditions for receiving the benefit on the date of divorce as well as on the date on which your former partner passed away, and
  • your former partner was obliged to pay alimony to you on the date of his or her death. It makes no difference whether you actually received the alimony.

Same amounts of Anw benefit and alimony

Your Anw survivor benefit will be the same as the alimony your former partner had to pay to you. However, if the alimony is more than the maximum survivor benefit, you will get the maximum survivor benefit. If you have other income as well, this wil be deducted from your survivor benefit.
